This workshop will explore roadmaps for activating European municipalities to integrate cultivated biodiversity into local food policies, drawing on the proposals of the Granollers Manifesto “ Fostering Cultivated Biodiversity in European Municipalities”. Participants will engage in collective reflection to identify local strategies and strengthen the role of social movements in catalysing municipal action.

In the workshop we will generate an space for collective reflection and discussion among municipal responsible and other stakeholders, in order to 1) assess the Irish already existing actions and 2) to generate possible and concrete strategies and connexions with ongoing processes at the local and global level.
In this workshop we would like to explore with colleagues and friends working to liberate the seeds, using different approaches and strategies, how open-source seed ideas and practices from different initiatives within GOSSI could contribute to their work.
Open-source seeds are seeds, whose distribution and/or sale are accompanied by a formal commitment to preserve the rights of farmers, gardeners, and breeders to freely use, save, replant, and improve them. Critically, this responsibility is extended to their progeny and derivatives. Anyone may freely use open-source seed – grow it, propagate it, and breed with it – as long as they agree to pass those freedoms on to others. We use a formal licence or a pledge to establish the commitment between those that exchange seeds.
This workshop offers a valuable platform for participants to gain insights into multi-actor culinary breeding methodologies, from theory to real-world applications, with a focus on diverse crops and sensory evaluation techniques.
Aim of this is workshop is to first investigate issues with breeding led by market demand, then explore different approaches to needs-based and farmer-led plant breeding, and the resilience this can bring. We’ll cover drivers such as human nutrition and crop resilience addressed by several breeding methods including working with diverse populations.
This training of trainers and capacity-building workshop focuses on the EU seed legislation, with a particular emphasis on the Seed Marketing Reform. The workshop is designed to provide participants with a understanding of the reform and equip them with the tools to effectively engage with it. The agenda comprises two main components: an informative frontal session followed by a participatory session conducting a SWOT analysis related to the reform.
