11th Let’s Liberate Diversity! Forum, Budapest, Hungary
This is the final report of the 11th Let’s Liberate Diversity! Forum (Budapest, 2022), organised by the European Coordination Let’s Liberate Diversity! (EC-LLD) with Magház. The forum gathered participants from 28 countries, with 68 organisations and 120 registrations, and combined workshops, field visits, seed swaps, tastings and art to advance discussion and practice around cultivated biodiversity, seed systems and related policy. The report documents workshop summaries and outcomes on topics including potential deregulation of new GMOs in the EU, EU seed marketing reform (SEEDING EUROPE), patents on seeds, the FAO Treaty and UNDROP, community seed systems and participatory breeding, alternative grain value chains, open-source seed strategies, and urban food policy (MUFPP). It also describes project outputs (e.g. an online interactive map and the DYNAVERSITY deliverable with 1,709 records), the Extraordinary Assembly and new EC-LLD statute, field visits to the Centre for Plant Diversity and a therapeutic community garden, and lists participants and contacts. Key actionable outcomes recorded include mobilisation to prevent GMO deregulation, continuing the No Patents on Seeds petition and campaign activities, strengthening monitoring of EU seed policy, and recommendations for collaborative financing and governance models for networks and participatory breeding.
