DIVERSIFOOD project
This collective publication from the DIVERSIFOOD project presents nine key concepts to define and promote diversity in food systems. Developed collaboratively by project partners, the concepts integrate theoretical and practical perspectives from natural and social sciences to support multi-actor, transdisciplinary approaches. The document sets out the project’s ambition to foster crop diversity and local networks for high-quality food systems by encouraging locally developed innovations, new models for biodiversity management, participatory plant breeding and increased diversity in crops and food products. It defines concepts including diversified food systems, food quality, sustainability, food democracy, community management of agrobiodiversity, collaborative research, transdisciplinarity and co-evolutionary processes. The publication aims to facilitate shared understanding among diverse partners and to provide tools for research and communication; it also lists consortium participants and notes funding by the European Union Horizon 2020 (grant no. 633571).
