This brochure compiles the main results and ten innovative approaches developed by the DIVERSIFOOD H2020 project (2015–2019) to integrate cultivated biodiversity into food systems, from field to plate. It presents a working definition of underutilized crops, methods for decentralized on‑farm evaluation and participatory selection, strategies to valorize biodiverse products, and multi‑actor research processes. The publication discusses design and governance issues for collective management of plant genetic diversity, the role of community seed banks, data management tools (including PPBstats), and practical steps to implement farmers’ rights. It aims to guide practitioners, researchers and policymakers who wish to promote diversified, resilient and locally valued food systems by combining technical, organisational and social innovations.
