The Seed Knowledge Hub is an open online repository hosted on the EC-LLD website, developed within Seeds of Growth, an Erasmus+ small-scale partnership in adult education, cofunded by the European Union and coordinated by Semínkovna (Czech Republic) with EC-LLD and SEED Luxembourg as partners.
The Hub brings together guides, technical manuals, case studies and policy materials on seed saving and cultivated diversity. What was included into it was decided on the basis of a capacity gap analysis that reached 868 people across Europe and collected 140 responses from seed savers, community seed bank managers and seed librarians.
The collection now holds over 100 resources and its growing thanks to the contributions of EC-LLD Members and the broader community.
If your organisation has produced materials that others could use, write to info@liberatediversity.org and we will add it. Material in any European language is welcome.
Explore our featured collections below, or use the filters to narrow the Hub by project, language and type of resource (presentations, videos, publications).
Seeds of Growth is an Erasmus+ partnership (September 2025 – December 2026) coordinated by Semínkovna with EC-LLD and SEED Luxembourg, working on community seed banks and seed saving in Europe. Here you will find the Capacity Gap Analysis, the recordings and slides of the Community Seed Bank Labs, and the presentations from the Prague meeting. In English and Czech.
LiveSeeding (2022–2026) is a Horizon Europe project coordinated by FiBL Europe, with 37 partners in 16 countries and a network of 17 Living Labs, to bring diverse organic cultivars to organic farming. This collection gathers its practice abstracts and handbooks, among them seed drying and storage, hot water treatment and organic heterogeneous material.
Presentation of FiBL’s organic pre-breeding programme for white lupin in Switzerland, targeting anthracnose resistance, earliness and low alkaloid content through pedigree selection and composite cross populations.
Quantitative study (688 households, 1,600 plots) in Malawi finds CSBs supply ~1/3 of seeds for participants and are associated with improved household food security; yield effects vary by crop and CSB participation correlates with past climate shocks.
Practical toolkit from Diversifood with building blocks, case examples and methods to run multi-actor participatory plant breeding projects that boost on-farm agrobiodiversity.

Elkana presents its Seed Ark farm, Community Seed Bank and Seed Libraries in Georgia, detailing seed multiplication, annual renewal and farmer seed‑share practices to conserve landraces and support agrobiodiversity, livelihoods and local seed systems.
Analysis of sustainability challenges for community seed banks (India, Kenya, Nepal, South Africa, Uganda) and five strategies to enhance viability: value addition, nature-positive agriculture, genebank partnerships, networking/digitalization, and low-cost seed-quality tech.
Practice abstract with DIY hot water treatment protocols for sanitizing vegetable seeds: materials, step-by-step procedure, species-specific temps/times, caution for heat-sensitive seeds, and project contact/link.
Practice abstract on SeedLinked: a multilingual, GDPR-compliant web and mobile platform for participatory on-farm variety evaluation, with recommendations for trial management, training and user feedback.
