DYNAVERSITY (Horizon 2020 project)
This is the first manual in a three-part technical series on Community Seed Banks (Case delle Sementi), produced within the EU Horizon 2020 DYNAVERSITY project with support from the European Coordination Let’s Liberate Diversity! (ECLLD) and edited/translated into Italian by Rete Semi Rurali. The manual explains origins, functions and objectives of community seed banks in Europe and provides practical guidance on key operational topics: what to conserve, seed quality and health, cleaning and drying, storage and conservation, regeneration and multiplication, distribution, financial aspects, innovation and outreach, and governance. It includes a European overview, case examples (e.g. Magház, Hungary), a glossary and recommended readings. The manual is aimed at community groups, seed networks and practitioners involved in establishing, managing or networking community seed banks to conserve and promote on-farm agrobiodiversity.
