14th Let’s Liberate Diversity! Forum, Luxembourg, 4–6 September 2025
This document is the final report of the 14th Let’s Liberate Diversity! Forum, held in Luxembourg from 4–6 September 2025. The Forum gathered 123 participants from 23 countries with contributions from more than 50 speakers including farmers, researchers, NGO representatives and policymakers. The report summarises the conference programme, workshop sessions, field visits, tastings and a diversity fair. Key policy-focused topics included EU seed law reform, the UN Declaration on the Rights of Peasants (UNDROP) and its implications for seed policy, patents and plant variety protection, and the state of play on new genomic techniques (NGTs). The report also covers practice-oriented themes such as participatory and organic breeding, seed health and technical seed quality, community seed networks, evolutionary populations, on-farm variety development, and seed-based value chains (e.g. local wheat and pasta projects). Outcomes highlighted the need for continued engagement in regulatory processes, stronger collaboration across seed networks, support for small and informal seed producers, and the launch of initiatives including a global survey and a podcast mini-series (“What Seeds for Tomorrow?”). The report notes the Forum’s role in connecting actors, sharing methods and setting priorities for advocacy, research and collective action. The next edition is announced for 22–24 May 2026 in Scandicci (Florence), hosted by Rete Semi Rurali.
