Méthodes et outils pour la sélection décentralisée à la ferme

Practical guide on experimental designs, analytical methods and tools (including R package PPBstats) for decentralized on‑farm selection and participatory plant breeding.

Diversifood Brochure #3

This technical brochure (Brochure #3 of the Diversifood project) provides experimental designs, statistical methods and practical tools adapted to decentralized on‑farm selection and participatory plant breeding. It presents a decision tree to choose appropriate experimental designs and analyses according to objectives and constraints, describes experimental layouts (D1: complete repeated designs; D2: incomplete blocks; D3: row‑column; D4: regional farms and satellites), and details analytical families (M1–M9) including regression and machine‑learning approaches, multivariate analyses, AMMI and GGE, mixed and hierarchical Bayesian models for G×E, molecular analyses, network analysis of seed circulation, and organoleptic sensory methods (napping, hedonic, ranking). The brochure documents the R package PPBstats and lists complementary software and references. It is intended as a practical reference for researchers and practitioners implementing decentralized selection on farms and for analysing agronomic, nutritional, sensory and molecular data within participatory programmes.

Key topics: decentralized selection, participatory plant breeding, experimental design, statistical methods, PPBstats, organoleptic analysis, network analysis
