A synergy between farmers, associations and researchers for agrobiodiversity
EUROPE
APBREBES is a global network of civil society organisations that advocates for plant breeding for the benefit of society, the full implementation of farmers’ rights to plant genetic resources and the promotion of agricultural biodiversity.

Farmers Rigths website has been developed as a tool for decision makers, practitioners and others involved in the realization of Farmers’ Rights as they are addressed in the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture. It is also an information source for researchers, journalists, and other interested individuals.

We support Small-scale Commercial Growers, Community Groups and Home Gardeners & Allotmenteers with useful networks, resources and information to help protect and restore seed diversity across the UK & Ireland.
The European Consortium for Organic Plant Breeding (ECO-PB) was founded in 2001 with the aim of promoting organic plant breeding and building up an independent expertise. As a non-profit association the main purpose is to foster organic agriculture, protect the environment and conserve agrobiodiversity through plant breeding programmes designed specifically for the needs of organic farming systems.

iversity=Harvesting Security // SD=HS is the joint effort of Oxfam Novib and the world’s leading civil society organizations with a firm track record in the field of plant genetic resources to empower smallholder farmers. We enter into partnerships and invest in alliances with likeminded NGOs, government institutions, academic bodies and national breeding and research institutes. And we bring together expertise in quality seed development, policies and regulation, local seed enterprise development and public-private partnerships.

We need greater diversity and larger supply of high-quality, regionally adapted planting materials for organic producers all over the globe. Building these genetic resources and assuring their survival is an existential imperative. It will take all of us to be successful, the whole organic value chain and food system working together.

The agricultural European Innovation Partnership (EIP-AGRI) works to foster competitive and sustainable farming and forestry that ‘achieves more and better from less’. It contributes to ensuring a steady supply of food, feed and biomaterials, developing its work in harmony with the essential natural resources on which farming depends.
Seeds4All initiative that will help to multiply opportunities for cooperation between biodiversity keepers and to highlight the extent of their commitment, which has been legally insecure for too long.
The member organisations of NO PATENTS ON SEEDS! are concerned about the increasing number of patents on plants, seeds and farm animals and their impact on farmers, breeders, innovation and biodiversity. These patents are an abuse of patent law and put in danger the access to basic resources in agriculture and food production. Therefore, we call for an urgent re-think of European patent law in biotechnology and plant breeding and for clear regulations that exclude conventional breeding, genetic material, animals, plants and food derived thereof from patentability!
Global Coalition of Open Source Seed Initiatives – GOSSI is an international coalition of organizations, individuals – farmers, seed keepers, plant breeders, activists – working to ensure that seeds can be freely used and shared in perpetuit
Inf’OGM is a citizens’ watchdog that works for true transparency in the GMO debate.
Welcome to the European Citizens’ Initiative: Food is a Human Right for All!
The access to adequate, safe, sustainable and nutritious food is a fundamental human right. However, it is not yet the case in the European Union. The ECI on the Right to Food aims to change this and make this right a reality for everyone in the EU. By supporting our initiative, you are taking a stand against food insecurity and unfair food systems, and advocating for a just and sustainable food system for Europe.

CHINA
Chinese Farmers’ Seed Network (FSN), founded in 2013, focuses on participatory research on agrobiodiversity and natural resource management. FSN operates in over 40 rural communities across 14 provinces, promoting seed conservation, sustainable utilization, and community-based biodiversity management. Their initiatives include community seed banks, participatory crop improvement, and ecological plant breeding programs. They also facilitate collaborations between farmers and scientists to enhance seed systems and improve livelihoods. Recently, FSN has established three multi-stakeholder platforms to promote in-situ conservation of agrobiodiversity and launched projects in partnership with UNEP to co-promote ecosystem-based adaptation strategies.
