11:00 | The history and activities of Magház (Dóri Kiss, Magház)

Magház was founded in 2012 as an informal network of seed savers in Hungary. In the last 10 years, we have come a long way! Dóri will speak about the history and recent activities of Magház: such as a network of seed saving Hubs, our education program and our citizen science project.

11:30 | Which tomato to choose; does nutrient content matter? (László Csambalik, MATE) – more info soon
12:00 | Diverse orchard (Balázs Kulcsár, MAPER) – more info soon
12:30 | Weeds are essential agroecosystem elements (Izóra Gál, MATE)

Diversity is important in agriculture, but not only in the case of cultivated or domesticated species. A diverse weed flora seems terrifying at first but it could mean a tremendous help for the farmer as well. Alfréd Szilágyi shows us the weed species playing a big role – negative or positive – in the life of their vegetable producing farm, while Izóra Gál adds some thoughts to each mentioned species about their possible functions on the farm and in the ecosystem.
