WS 12 – Variety development and Utilisation Strategies of old fruit tree cultivars (German)

Traditional fruit varieties are not just ‘a matter of taste’. In addition to a wide range in terms of harvesting, storage and utilisation, fruit diversity is also important for the development of natural resistance to stress factors. This workshop addresses the importance of the genetic diversity of fruit, the obstacles in the legal framework and a critical questioning of the usefulness of biotechnological breeding.
