10th GMO-Free Europe Conference

The European Commission’s proposed legislation on “new techniques in biotechnology” gives rise to the concern that certain gene editing methods (ie CRISPR-Cas) will not be regulated, traceable and labelled as Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). Instead, they will be exempted from the current European GMO legislation.

As the European Council and the Parliament start working on this piece of legislation, the 10th GMO-free Europe conference aims to examine the Commission’s proposal and bring together critical politicians, scientists, farmers, NGOs, businesses and institutions to exchange their views and strategies for advocacy.

Internal meetings and working groups will take place on both days and on the second day a public session will be hosted by the Green Group at the European Parliament in Brussels.
