WS 1 – EU seed law reform: How to support small seed producers’ large contribution to cultivated biodiversity?

This workshop empowers participants to understand and influence the EU seed law reform. While current proposals risk marginalizing nano-enterprises, informal seed systems, and biodiversity, the legislative process remains ongoing—and participation is urgently needed.

Through interactive scenario work and collective storytelling, we’ll explore how legal definitions and regulatory burdens impact real actors across the seed system. Participants will imagine worst- and best-case futures, and identify concrete steps toward inclusive, biodiversity-friendly regulation.

The goal: better access to information, stronger engagement, and motivation to act—whether through advocacy, legal input, or grassroots organizing. By the end, participants will leave informed, inspired, and connected to a shared vision for seed sovereignty in Europe.
