Let’s Liberate Diversity! and Rete Semi Rurali invite you to take part in a three-day Forum
In this edition, we will explore cross-cutting themes such as seed legislation, plant health, seed quality, and the relevance of Crop Wild Relatives. More specifically, we will address key issues currently shaping the future of seeds and agrobiodiversity, ranging from the ongoing European legislative reform to farmers’ rights to use and exchange seeds, as well as the challenges posed by varietal patents.
We will also discuss organic plant breeding, highlighted by the anniversary of ECO-PB, and examine the issues posed by New Genomic Techniques. Particular attention will be given to the role of on-farm adaptation and to variety development carried out directly within farming communities. The field visit will take place at the historic organic farm of Rosario Floriddia, located in the Tuscan countryside.
We will further explore topics related to ownership rights and the importance of public and community-based funding for plant breeding and seed production, along with the crucial role of Crop Wild Relatives.
