Welcome to the first ECLLD -News! and thank you for joining us. With this NewsLetter we would like to inform you and your organization about news, events, meetings and all the activities of ECLLD.
EC-LLD General Assembly 2019
The annual meeting of the European Coordination Let's Liberate Diversity (EC-LLD) was organised on 25th June in Kalo, Denmark. The Assembly approved the budget and the annual report. The new Management Board was also voted on, appointing Maria Carrascosa - Red De Semillas, Riccardo Bocci - Rete Semi Rurali, Béla Bartha - ProSpecieRara, Cyrille Pacteau - Reséau Semences Paysannes and Jennifer McConnell - Irish Seed Savers. In fact, a great news of this assembly was the entrance as members of the Irish Seed Savers Association. The afternoon session was dedicated to the sharing of EC-LLD "Vision and Mission", to the future design and organization of the 10th edition of Let's Liberate Diversity! in France from 7th - 9th November 2019.
4th Let’s Cultivate Diversity - Denmark
From 26th to 28th June the fourth European meeting dedicated to cereals took place in Kalø, Denmark, organized by the Europeanproject CERERE, the European Coordination Let's Liberate Diversity and the Nordic Heritage Cereal Network. As in previous editions held in France, Italy and Belgium, there were three intense days of in-depth study of agricultural and processing practices.
Some of our members coordinated the activities and workshops during the event:
⦁ Organization and cooperation through the whole value chain: The role of food policy in promoting the local cereal production. Giuseppe de Santis RSR (IT) ⦁ Cultivation of evolutionary varieties. A proposition to mobilise untapped diversity for on-farm breeding - example of rivet wheat. Matteo Petitti RSR (IT) ⦁ Farmers participation in breeding. Starting a selection network of farmers without funding. Béla Bartha PSR (CH), project Farmers Pride (CH)⦁ Cooperation between small seed companies, farmers and communities. 10th Let’s Liberate Diversity 2019 - France
The next LLD 2019 meeting will be held in France thanks to the collaboration with the members BEDE and RSP. Within the -International Meeting on Peasants’ Seeds “Sow your resistance Peasants’; seeds feed the people”- from 4th to 9th November 2019. EC-LLD will organized two workshops the 7th-9th November. Soon more information.
Community Seed Banks (CSB) - Europe
Arche Noah (Austria) has opened the call for proposals for training on the subject of CSB. Each CSB that plans to organize trainingsessions can fill in the application on the site and in case of acceptance receive a contribution to the costs up to a maximum of €2,000. On the site you will find the guidelines for the drafting of the application and the preferred topics for this call. EC-LLD is following this process created to support CSB at European level. VI Andalusian Fair of Agricultural Biodiversity (FABA) and XX State Fair of Biodiversity (FEB) - Spain
From 7th to 9th June the fair took place in Malaga. The meeting activities were the promotion of the production and consumption of local crop varieties. It emphasized the methods of cultivation, processing, value enhancement and cereal marketing. More than 150 participated. from individuals and organizations linked to agroecological production and consumption and the use of local crop varieties: producers, processors, consumers, social movements, politicians, researchers, technicians and media.

“Plants, people and the future” of Italo Rondinella's food will be on display at Caselle in Pittari from 19 to 21 July 2019 in conjunction with the Palio del Grano. Inauguration on 19 July in the presence of the author. The exhibition consists of 40 images that were taken during 6 stages of a journey through Europe - in Italy, Ireland, France, Spain and Hungary - to portray the communities that experience innovative ways in agriculture, recovering varieties of plants, creating new ones and promoting new supply chains. This exhibition will be exhibited in various places also by other project partners.
